Comments I submitted the the WH concerning The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
I am happy to see a bill such as this one pass. There are elements that I support as well as elements that I do not support — I accept the fact that no one will be fully satisfied with the bill.
ONE MAJOR CONCERN I have is, as I have stated in three previous emails (none of which we answered I might add), the transparency promised by the president when he was just a candidate for office. We were promised 5 days of review time prior to the signing into law any new piece of legislation.
We, the citizenry. cannot support what we do not understand. The ability to read a piece of legislation will go a long way toward that end.
Knowing that our comments (via the WH email system) are being read will also provide us with a sense of purpose.
I backed and supported the president during his campaign. That does not mean I will support him forever–he must be seen as keeping, or trying to keep, the promises he made.
